Manchester City braced for major spending from Chelsea this summer

When Chelsea faced Manchester City in January, the eventual Premier League winners took the Blues apart and looked miles better.

By the end of the season, the gap had not only closed significantly, Chelsea were beating their rivals in the FA Cup, the league and then finally the European Cup final.

It sounds like the Citizens are spooked, and an article in the Manchester Evening News today just confirms that. Simon Bajkowski writes that City are “counting on considerable improvement from Chelsea” over the summer, as the Blues look to build on their impressive squad with further signings.

The rumours connecting us with Erling Haaland for example, leave the mouth watering prospect of a top 9 in an XI that feels just one step away from being a dynastic side to compete with those that Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have built.

No wonder they’re quaking in their boots in Manchester.
