If there’s one thing transfer rumour writers like, it’s linking players with managers who have signed them before, or have managed them at a previous club.
Jose Mourinho never used Tammy Abraham in a first team game, but he will have known all about him from his second spell at Chelsea, and from watching the Blues as Spurs manager and as a pundit in the last couple of years.
Mourinho is now Roma manager, and the Daily Star yesterday reported that the Portuguese coach is pushing to sign Abraham as a striking option for his new team.
With Edin Dzeko looking set to leave, we can see Tammy slotting in as a great replacement. It would be a big step to move abroad, but we back Tammy to be the right character, and a good enough player, to make it work.
Of course, we all want him to stay – but that’s not looking likely any more.
