James Maddison to Chelsea suggested if Ziyech leaves

At some point, pretty much every transfer will be suggested in some form. In a way it’s surprising we haven’t heard this one more often or more intensively.

English players who do well for a good team will always be linked to one of the big 6, and now it’s the turn of James Maddison of Leicester.

Chris Wheatley of the Athletic claims that Chelsea “want him” if they lose Hakim Ziyech – but that seems a long way off in reality.

Firstly Chelsea selling Ziyech after one season seems unlikely. He wasn’t great but he had his moments, and almost everyone would like to see him given at least a second season to impress.

Then we’d have to sign Maddison, a well paid England international playing for a Premier League rival. That would cost crazy money, in a position where we’re really well stocked already.

This feels like a long way off, whatever way you look at it.
