German legend compares Chelsea star to Zinedine Zidane

Chelsea have a number of players we have been following along competing in the Euros this summer, so it’s been interesting to see how they have been performing.

Guys like Mason Mount and Jorginho have started strong, as if we expected anything less.

With the momentum picked up from Chelsea’s star after winning the Champions League this season just over three weeks ago, there was always going to be the belief that they could then take that confidence and form into the Euros.

It looks like our goal-scoring hero from that night Kai Havertz, is doing just that.

He has been an important player for Germany and put in some good performances, even scoring against Portugal at the weekend.

His fellow countryman and legend of the game Lothar Matthaus believes Havertz plays a bit like footballing legend Zinedine Zidane, and it is actually easy to see those comparisons when you think about it.

“I compare him to Zinedine Zidane in terms of skills, technique and overview, and anticipating a situation. Zidane didn’t seem quick, but it was when he hit the ball. Havertz can do that too.” – Matthaus.
