Ethan Ampadu confident that Sheffield United loan helped him develop

Ethan Ampadu’s loan to Sheffield United this season didn’t work out perfectly, and we certainly would have liked to see him play more, but it was a big step up from RB Leipzig last year, and according to the man himself it was beneficial in terms of experience.

“I feel I have developed a lot as a player over the past year. I learned how ruthless the Premier League is. You make even half a mistake and the opposition often scores. But I was playing a lot and I learned a great deal,” the 20 year old told the  Sheffield Star.

That’s great to hear. Let’s face it, it wasn’t an ideal setup for him, a relegation season where Chris Wilder was sacked halfway through. But players can learn a lot through adversity, and at least he didn’t sit on the bench for the whole year as he did in Germany.

It also means he’s super fresh for this summer’s Euros, where he’s going to play a key role for Wales. After all the worry, it could end up being a really important campaign for his progression as a player.
