Chelsea wait in the shadows as RB Leipzig raise their €18m bid

Get France Football News is a great site for condensing the day’s rumours from the European nation into one place, and Chelsea are often involved.

Today it’s a French player, but two German clubs, in the mix. Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix has had a couple of great seasons, and RB Leipzig have now raised their bid from €18m to above €20m.

The Wolves are holding out for €30, and it sounds like a compromise could be found between the two differences.

Chelsea’s interest is noted in the final line of the report, and it doesn’t sound like we’re poised to snipe Leipzig’s bid just yet. But it sounds like we’re watching and could stick our oar in at any moment.

We’re well stocked with central defenders, but with Fikayo Tomori leaving and Thiago Silva deep into his 30s, new blood will be needed at some point, next summer if not this.
