Chelsea may be tempted by Atletico bid for midfielder, despite major loss

It’s that time of year again where we have to speculate about the futures of players who are clearly not going to get another chance at Chelsea, and this time it’s Tiemoue Bakayoko who is up.

He’s had a series of loans with no club interested in taking him permanently afterwards, and as it stands he will  return to Chelsea this summer with just a year to run on his contract.

That’s not a situation the club ever like to be in with a player, and they will likely do all they can to shift him this summer, or get him to add further years to his deal.

The latest links come from Spain, with TodoFichajes reporting that Atletico Madrid are interested in a cheeky bid to try and get him cut price, for around €18m.

That would mean a big loss for Chelsea on the money they paid, but with just a year left on his deal, they will probably accept that it’s as good as they’ll get.
