Andy Murray hails Chelsea star after impressive Euros bow

Scotland’s greatest living sporting hero (for now) Andy Murray was Wembley to watch his country take on England in the Euros last night, and at full time there was only one person he chose to celebrate.

Chelsea kid Billy Gilmour was supreme in his first tournament start for his country, keeping England at bay and keeping his side ticking over.

“Billy Gilmour is my idol” Murray tweeted, echoing the thoughts of plenty of Blues fans from the last year or so.

As some pundits pointed out, this was likely the first game of a long international career for Billy, and it was quite the way to start. A man of the match award against your country’s oldest rivals, praise from a national sporting hero.

The future is so bright for Billy, and we can’t wait to see him play more for Chelsea in the season to come. Forget the loans – he’s ready now.
