AC Milan trigger €28.5m Fikayo Tomori purchase clause

Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed what we have all known was inevitable for some time now – AC Milan have triggered the purchase clause in Fikayo Tomori’s loan deal to make the move permanent.

The Italian club had been haggling over the price, but they seem to have figured something out with Chelsea, and the €28.5m deal will now take be completed as soon as they agree a contract with him. It should be a matter of days, given he’s not at the Euros.

It’s a bitter shame – Chelsea fans still rate Tomori highly and it’s a pity that it’s come to this.

On the other hand, there is a long queue of defenders at the club now, and given how well they did this season, it would be a long way back to the first team.

Let’s just hope he continues to shine in Serie A… and we can bring him back to the Bridge one day in the future.
