AC Milan revive interest in unwanted Chelsea midfielder

Tiemoue Bakayoko was cast off at Chelsea after just one season. Since then he’s been on loan at three different clubs, but none of them has wanted to step up and buy him permanently afterwards.

That may be about to change however. AC Milan, where he spent a season two years ago, are apparently interested in getting him back, now that he’s only got a year left on his Chelsea contract and will be more affordable for them.

Sempre Milan quote CalcioMercato in saying that Paolo Maldini, the Italian club’s sporting director, “took note” of the possibility but didn’t actively push things forward any more than that.

They cite a €15m-€20m asking price for Bakayoko, which seems reasonable given his contract situation. The move looked like a disaster from pretty early on, getting €20m would be a decent result for Chelsea given the series of mediocre loans he’s had since then.
