(Video): Billy Gilmour sub explained by Thomas Tuchel after midfielder hauled off at half time

Chelsea were a goal behind and quite clearly in trouble before Thomas Tuchel took off Billy Gilmour at half time.

Usually a removal after 45 minutes means a player has played badly, but in this case Tuchel insisted in his press conference after the game it was a purely tactical switch.

The coach wanted Mason Mount playing in Gilmour’s role, considering his ability to shoot from range, and apparently thought it would be better to take off the young Scot than Jorginho, who had all but cost us the game with his error after 15 minutes, playing in the same role as Billy.
