“They have the upper hand” – Tuchel explains how Man City have been handed the advantage

Chelsea take on Manchester City tomorrow afternoon, a preview of their Champions League final later this month, and a repeat of their FA Cup semi final from a few weeks ago.

Thomas Tuchel was asked about the two teams in the press conference previewing the game this afternoon, and he pointed out that his opposition would have the advantage this time.

Football.London had the full quote from the Chelsea boss:

“They have the upper hand because they had one more day to recover and don’t have to travel, we saw how big an impact that can have in the FA Cup.”

Chelsea won that last game 1-0 and City just weren’t at the races, and clearly Tuchel reckons that was in large part to the fact that his team had played on the Tuesday that week, while City played on the Wednesday.

The roles are reversed this time, and it will be fascinating to see what the Chelsea boss does to prevent his team having the same issues.

We expect a decent bit or rotation, and there is certainly enough squad on the bench to bring some fresh legs and quality to the XI that lines up tomorrow.
