“Took me two months” – Kai Havertz describes ‘big sickness’ after getting Covid-19

Chelsea made a number of big signings this summer, some made an instant impact, others not so much.

The likes of Edouard Mendy, Ben Chilwell, and Thiago Silva came in and hit the ground running, but players like Kai Havertz took a little longer to settle in to the Premier League.

Check out the latest inside information on Chelsea’s pursuit of a new striker, including my own info on Lukaku and Haaland, here.

As I have spoken about before, this was down to many things including arriving in a new country at a young age, in a new and more physical league, without friends and family around in the middle of a pandemic, and he also suffered with a couple of niggling injuries.

And on top of that, Havertz has been revealing the full extent of his suffering with Covid-19, where he wasn’t 100% for two months.

We have heard about ‘long covid’ etc with people losing their sense of smell and not feeling right for a long time, and it looks like this gave Havertz a real set back.

As reported by The Sun, Havertz said:

“It was very hard for me and it took three or four weeks to get well.

“After that I didn’t feel 100 per cent either.

“To be 100 per cent I think took me two months.

“It was a big sickness. I smelt nothing, I tasted nothing and I just lay the whole day in bed and had back pain. Hopefully, I will not get it again.”
