The one scary stat that hangs over Chelsea ahead of two cup finals

Until tonight, Chelsea had lost just once in the Premier League under Thomas Tuchel, and that 5-3 defeat to West Brom was such a freak game in every way that it was easy to ignore as a one off.

Tonight they added a second loss though, and this one couldn’t be put down to a mad early red.

Chelsea made a horror error to concede, and then just couldn’t get into gear in an attacking sense.

It would all have been OK if we hadn’t let one in, but as you can see in the OPTA stat above, that’s a bad habit we’re getting into.

Chelsea have conceded EIGHT goals this season directly from their own errors, more than any team apart from Liverpool.

Some of those came under Frank Lampard, and some under Thomas Tuchel. Some came with Kepa in goal and some with Edu Mendy. Almost all of them came in games against West Brom, funnily enough.

Whatever the cause, it’s got to be eliminated right now – there’s no margin for error left with two finals on the horizon.
