Kepa set to start FA Cup final despite mix-up for Arsenal goal

Thomas Tuchel has all but confirmed that Kepa Arrizabalaga will be his goalkeeper for this Saturday’s FA Cup final – despite the defensive miscommunication which lead to Arsenal winning the game tonight.

Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com had the quotes from Tuchel as he confirmed what he had all suspected – that the start for the Basque tonight was to get him ready and in form for the cup final against Leicester.

If that was the aim, it may have backfired a little. Jorginho’s backpass was the problem, but it was Kepa left scrambling, and no matter whose fault it was, there’s no way it will have been good for the stopper’s confidence ahead of the big game at the weekend.

Surely Tuchel must now be considering playing Edouard Mendy – and the fact there’s now doubt is a worrying sign in itself – could we be back to Kepa confidence level zero?

Maybe this is why rotating keepers is still something of a novelty.
