Edouard Mendy’s incredible clean sheet record gets better and better

Edouard Mendy had a good game today as Chelsea won 2-0 against a desperate Fulham team.

The Blues goalkeeper made a couple of brilliant saves just as the away side looked to be growing into the game, and from that point onwards they looked like they’d run out of ideas.

The clean sheet means he’s now up to 16 in 28 games since he arrived from Rennes last summer. That’s a quite incredible record of 57%, the best of any keeper in the top flight this season. He won’t break the all time record of 24 from 38, set by Petr Cech for Chelsea in 2004/2005, but he will likely come impressively close.

There is still some debate about Mendy’s ability with the ball – some insist that he’s not up to it, while others insists that’s just an illusion. Either way, it’s a fault that can be forgiven when you’re producing saves and results like he is.
