Edouard Mendy tells Chelsea fans when they will see the best of Havertz and Werner

Edouard Mendy arrived at Chelsea this summer and has instantly become as firm fan favourite and one of the best performing players so far.

The goalkeeper has been growing in confidence and in stature by the day, and his influence and leadership qualities appear to be coming out even more recently as he gets more comfortable at his new club.

He will be aware of some criticisms of two other new signings this summer, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, and Mendy has been quick to defend the German internationals on the Chelsea website today and believes that we will see the very best of them both at the start of next season, after they have had more time to settle in and gel with their new team mates.

Mendy said:

“They are really good players. They are young players and it is the first time that they have moved to another country. I think they needed a couple of months to adjust and understand the Premier League but I see them every day and I know how good they are.

“I am happy for them. They showed their qualities on the pitch [vs Fulham].

“Next season, 100 per cent, we will see the best of Timo and Kai. Even this year, we have enjoyed their good levels of performance and they are important for us. A game like Saturday’s is really good for their confidence.”

We are certainly really starting to see more than positive signs from the pair already, especially Havertz who scored both our goals against Fulham on Saturday.
