Chelsea’s oversupply of attacking players means no Jadon Sancho bid

Jadon Sancho’s career was all lined up nicely – move to Germany, look great, build up hype, then move to Man U or Man City in the summer of 2020 just as the excitement peaks.

Instead the pandemic ruined that timeline, and the situation this summer doesn’t look like it’s going to be much better than it was a year ago. Even worse, Erling Haaland has emerged in his own team as the hottest prospect around. Sancho has some big decisions to make this summer.

One team he won’t be joining, by the sounds of things, is Chelsea.

Sport1 in Germany have a whole feature on his feature, where UK based football writer Raphael Honigstein explains that Chelsea’s plethora of attacking options make a move for the winger unlikely.

The “oversupply” of options we have is already a headache for Thomas Tuchel, and it seems there are more likely to be departures in those areas this summer than additions.
