£26m Chelsea transfer depends on final weeks of Serie A

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori will leave the club and join AC Milan – but only if the Italian team qualify for the Champions League.

That’s according to Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, who goes into some detail on how Tomori is a key part of Chelsea’s plans to raise major money this summer.

His loan is going very well, and Milan would like to keep him. Equally, Fik would like to stay permanently. But the Italian giants are in a precarious position in the race to reach the top 4.

Inter Milan are running away with the title and Atalanta hold second place. Then there is Napoli, Juventus and Milan, all fighting for two spots, and all level on points.

One of them will miss out, and if it is Milan, then Tomori’s future suddenly becomes a lot more uncertain. For that group of Blues fans who don’t want to sell him, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

On the other hand, the £26m buyout clause in his loan would be a serious boost to our transfer funds for this summer.
