Ziyech reflects on ‘perfect week’ and explains his goal-scoring feeling before the match

It was a massive day for Chelsea Football Club yesterday as they qualified for another FA Cup Final by beating one of the best teams in the world.

The Blues deservedly beat Manchester City 1-0 to put themselves through to the final of the most historic and prestigious domestic cup competitions in football, and it was winger Hakim Ziyech that grabbed the all important winning goal after some fine work from Timo Werner.

Thomas Tuchel would be pleased how his side never really looked under threat, and always had the edge over a top quality side.

It rounded off a perfect week, as Ziyech described it on the Chelsea website after also qualifying for the Champions League semi finals earlier in the week.

The Moroccan international also explains how he had a feeling that he would score today before the game, and that just reflects the confidence these guys are playing with right now.

He said:

“Timo did a good run into the space, I made my run, it was a good delivery and I put it in easy.

“You always have to have that feeling before the game that you want to score.

“It feels good to be in the final. Everybody is happy. We did a good job, especially in the first half.

“The second half was a little bit difficult to close all the spaces, but we scored the one goal that we needed. It was enough.

“Those moments [seeing the game out] are always nervous from the stands.

“I tried to stay calm but sometimes it’s difficult! In the end everybody did well, we killed the game and we kept a clean sheet as well.

“It was a perfect week and we can enjoy that. Now it’s a special end to the season if you see what we are still playing for. All the ways are open and everybody is excited about it and we cannot wait to play those games.”
