“We will hunt them” – Thomas Tuchel lays out ambitious plans for next season

When Thomas Tuchel took an 18-month contract at Chelsea in January, you always had a feel that he was being bought in for immediate impact, and the long-term project we had all kept hearing about, was being put on the back burner.

Tuchel is a manager who Chelsea knew would come in and get instant results, due to his experience and tactical knowledge.

He has certainly done this already and the club find themselves in two semi finals in the next couple of weeks and fighting for top four.

We know Chelsea have ambitious owners, and they demand success from their managers. Tuchel is certainly planning for pretty much instant success, and he has laid that out in his latest press conference today, as reported by Football London.

Tuchel not only wants to close the gap on tomorrow’s opponents Manchester City and other such clubs, he says he will actively ‘hunt them’ from the start of next season.

He said:

“We have to accept there is a gap between us and Manchester City. If you look at the fixtures in the last few years we have to accept it, but without making us feel too small.

“From day one next season we will hunt them and try to close the game. In Europe, there are two teams that are the benchmark: Manchester City and Bayern Munich.”
