Thomas Tuchel confirms that Antonio Rudiger will start against Porto despite off-field issue

Antonio Rudiger has been the centre of attention these last few months after a long spell out of the spotlight, and it doesn’t look like that is going to change anytime soon.

The defender was rested at the weekend after playing three times in a week for Germany, and he watched in horror from the bench as his replacements at the back conceded 5 goals to West Brom.

The bad vibes from the defeat then seemed to spill over into training the next day, where Rudiger apparently scuffled with Kepa in the small-sided game.

That dispute was the centre of attention in today’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game in the Champions League against Porto, but manager Thomas Tuchel didn’t allow any room for speculation about his defender’s status.

He confirmed that Rudiger was going to start in the big game in Seville, hopefully putting an end to discussion of the falling out for good.
