Thomas Tuchel admits he is ready to play two strikers if necessary

Chelsea have a lot of attacking options, and one of the best things that Thomas Tuchel has done is establish a system and fit them into it, rather than letting them dictate the way we play.

That doesn’t mean he’s closed minded about changing from his 343 formation however, and when asked about the possibility of playing with two striker he said it was certainly an option.

Football.London had the full quote from the Chelsea boss:

“I do what I think is best for the team. I adapt to the quality of my players. If I have guys that need to be on the pitch as double strikers, we will find a way to play with double strikers. If we have to play with a single number nine, that’s what we will do,” the manager explained.

Despite what he says, he seems wedded to the 3 up top system we see now pretty heavily. Unless Timo Werner suddenly finds some form and starts scoring incredible quantities of goals, or unless Olivier Giroud or Tammy Abraham does something dramatic in training to force their way in, we can’t see Tuchel changing a winning formula just yet.

This summer, with a few tweaks to the squad and some more time on the training ground, we may start to see alterations.
