Key Real Madrid man ruled out for Chelsea Champions League clash

Now that we know Chelsea are actually still in the Champions League, we can start worrying about who we’re playing – although given that it’s Real Madrid, who are still theoretically in the disintegrating European Super League, there are no guarantees of anything just yet.

If Real do climb down in the same way that Chelsea have, we will play them next week in the first leg of our semi final.

Fede Valverde, the midfielder who returned from injury to play a key role in El Clasico two weeks ago, but has now contracted coronavirus and will not be able to play against us – at least in the first leg.

He joins Sergio Ramos in missing the game, and there are serious doubts about Dani Carvajal, Eden Hazard and Raphael Varane for the game too.

Los Blancos face Cadiz tonight, meaning we will know a lot more later this evening. Either way, they’re one man down for sure.
