Hakim Ziyech sacrificed after poor start to hectic West Brom match

Chelsea are grinding their way through a quite bitty first half against West Brom, and nobody in blue has really got into gear yet.

Two great chances have fallen to Hakim Ziyech, who wasted both with overhit passes as the team surged forward.

He also had a couple of short passes around the box cut out. For a player who is in the team to thread clever passes, he seems to struggle to weight them correctly.

To be fair, the Moroccan then swung a brilliant cross into the back post for Alonso to attack.

Unfortunately, with the Blues now down to ten men, it’s Ziyech who has been sacrificed. He deserved more time on the pitch to make amends, but there’s no denying he was the most wasteful player out there in those early stages, and Thomas Tuchel’s decision to take him off is probably justified.
