The full time whistle has just gone at Selhurst Park, where a dominant Chelsea battered
Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic were the ones getting on the scoresheet, but the outstanding performer was Mason Mount.
He’s taken his game to a new level recently, and this was genuinely sensational. It’s honestly hard to think of a comparison for him today – the combination of graft and skill is so unique. Social media lit up, as you’d expect. As one user put it succinctly, “elite.”
As always, his defensive contributions were as useful as his attacking play, and he was making tackles as well as assists. Every week he sets new levels, and there truly is no telling how good he can get.
Now the focus has to be on managing his minutes for the run-in – we’re going to need him fit and firing for almost every game.
You can see a selection of the reaction in the Tweets embedded here:
Brilliant performance from Mason Mount. Setting a new high-water mark every single week at the moment. Played a bit like a 2014 Griezmann today, perfect harmony of craft and graft.

Understand why Mason Mount has been named man of the match. Would've gone Jorginho personally. Thought he produced his best Chelsea display today

Mason Mount man of the match. Could’ve gone to Havertz and Pulisic too.
Goes to show you how good Chelsea’s frontline was today..
