Edourd Mendy names the thing that has surprised him most about the Premier League

Chelsea will be over the moon with the performances of new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy since he arrived at the club in the summer.

Mendy was a relatively unknown name for Chelsea fans who do not watch the French league, but they were assured he was scouted by the brilliant club legend Petr Cech, and who better to tell you who is a good goalkeeper or not?

Mendy has been superb, and his confidence also appears to be growing by the game.

However, there was one thing that surprised him about the Premier League when he first arrived, and it is actually something that the majority of new players that arrive in this league for the first time say also.

Intensity. Mendy was surprised at just how different the intensity is in the Premier League compared to France.

In a ‘ten questions’ interview via the Chelsea website, Mendy was asked this question.

Have any elements of Premier League football surprised you?

“Yes, the intensity. There is a lot more intensity than in France. When I saw games in England, I thought that, but when you live the situation, it’s different. It’s very difficult because compared to France the goalkeeper is not protected. Opponents can block you and stop you coming out of your goal, but contact is something I like. It doesn’t affect me.

“Also, in December you don’t have a break. It was a new thing for me. I liked it! Of course, when you come in England, you think about fans. The atmosphere in England is amazing, but unfortunately I cannot see that yet, but I hope soon.”
