Chelsea will have to think of Plan B for midfielder after loan club say they aren’t signing him

Chelsea are expected to be one of the busier clubs this window, with departures and arrivals potentially on the cards.

You’d imagine they will need to sell some players in order to fund some arrivals, and there are a number of players out on loans with their futures up in the air right now.

One of those is Ross Barkley at Aston Villa. Many believed that Villa would be keen on signing him this summer, but Villa boss Dean Smith has pretty much ruled that out and Chelsea will now have to think what other plans they will have for the England international this summer instead.

As reported by Sports Lens, Smith said:

“No, Ross Barkley came in on loan at the start of the season.

“Obviously, Frank Lampard was the manager at the time we brokered a deal to bring him in on loan. He’s got another two years left on his contract at Chelsea and that’s [signing Barkley] not been discussed at all.”
