Chelsea are battling their way past Porto in the Champions League quarter finals, but it’s not pretty.
The Blues have the lead from the first leg, but just as in that game, the Portuguese side are determined to win the game through the referee.
They’re diving every time they’re touched, leading to an incredibly scrappy match, which is pretty hard to watch. The referee is being far too easily swayed too, taken in by the sheer quantity of amateur dramatics on display it seems.
“They’re diving more than Michael Phelps” moaned one user on Twitter, and they’ve got a point. We hope this second half sees a little bit more football, and a lot fewer stoppages. They’re the ones who need goals – with 45 minutes to go until they’re eliminated, they might want to start trying to score them.
You can see a selection of the reaction in the Tweets embedded here:
16 fouls in that first half. A foul every 174 seconds.
Scrappy, that’s for sure. #CHEPOR pic.twitter.com/AfPTjCvjSt

At times this game hasn’t even seemed like football.

I've got no issues with Porto diving around. We have a 2-0 lead and we have no urgent need to score a goal. If they want to waste time for us I'll take it gladly.

Do the Porto players train in the Neymar School of Diving?

Did Porto players do any football related training this weekend or were they just bettering their diving skills?

Man, would love the first goal here. Just so Porto’s diving and rolling around just wastes time for their comeback effort more than anything else. Pretty farcical 30 minutes so far. #CFC

Porto diving and moaning every time they get tackled, yet trying to put every Chelsea player into the ICU every time they make a tackle..
