Mateo Kovacic has great close control, and we’ve seen him weave through midfields with a clever touch or two on countless occasions.
This was something different, and a little less graceful than the silk smooth move we’re used to, although equally as effective.
Left on his backside after a collision, the Croatian found the ball at his feet. Still on the ground, he picked up the ball between his ankles and swivelled it out of danger. It worked a treat, and he was able to set Chelsea on an attacking move.
