The absence of N’Golo Kante from a lot of Thomas Tuchel’s early teams has been a talking point, but he featured in the draw with Manchester United on Sunday and was superb.
After the game, Chelsea TV asked Tuchel if he’d picked the midfielder because he could help defend the counter attack. Tuchel agreed, but went further than that to say “N’Golo deserved it”. That makes it sound like he’s been outstanding in training and has impressed in cameos, and the chance to play more has finally arrived.
