USA coach says Christian Pulisic is “an unbelievable player” but wants it consistently

It was a pretty good night for Chelsea players on the international scene once again last night.

Both Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic grabbed a goal each for England and USA respectively, and Kai Havertz got an assist for Germany.

Could Chelsea look to do a swap deal involving Tammy Abraham and Declan Rice? Read my latest here and find out!

Pulisic though, it was particularly good for, you felt he really needed a performance to gain some confidence and momentum to bring back to Chelsea with him as he battles hard for a starting place under Thomas Tuchel.

He was excellent in the build up to his goal, getting the penalty himself and then converting from the spot.

But his overall play was impressive, and he was really up for it putting in 100% effort all over the park.

This is what impressed USA coach Gregg Berhalter, who was full of praise for his captain but did mention that he wants to see this type of Pulisic on a consistent level.

As reported by Goal, Berhalter said:

“What I say about Christian is to forget about all the great stuff he does on the ball. He just competed today, and, when he’s in that type of mode, he’s just an unbelievable player.

“That’s what I was most happy with today: the relentless pressing. He just kept going and going and going, and then he’s so good on the ball, he can unbalance a team. To me, he had an overall really strong performance.

“In my opinion, that’s the next level for Christian: just that type of performance all the time. When he does that, the rest speaks for itself. He’s such a creative player, he’s such a good player and I was really impressed with his performance, really impressed with how he handled himself today before the game, during the game and after the game. So overall, I really liked his performance.”
