Two Chelsea players make BBC Premier League team of the week

When you really think about it, it is very obvious what positions the two players picked in BBC’s premier league team of the week this week play in.

Since Thomas Tuchel took charge of Chelsea 12 games ago, they have had 10 clean sheets and the defence has looked totally solid.

I also have some significant exclusive news on Chelsea’s pursuits of Erling Haaland and Gianluigi Donnarumma here.

However, the frontline and attack is the place they are struggling in right now, failing to really take their chances and create enough in the final 20 yards of the pitch.

So it is safe to say that it was not a surprise to see Antonio Rudiger and Edouard Mendy make the team of the week for their top performances against Leeds United on Saturday, another game where they managed to keep a clean sheet, but also failed to score in.

Mendy made two world class saves to keep Chelsea in the game, and Rudiger continued his fine form under Tuchel.
