Mason Mount picks up injury with England and looks a doubt for Chelsea’s weekend fixture

Mason Mount missed England’s training session today, and is a doubt for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifying game against Poland.

It looks like a wear and tear issue picked up from playing so much in recent months – we all watched in horror as he played the full 90 minutes against Albania having also started days before against San Marino.

Thomas Tuchel will be cursing his luck as another key player for him is ruled out with an international break issue. The German coach treated his number 19 carefully, giving him more regular breaks than he’s been used to in the last couple of years.

Mount has started 7 consecutive games for England over the past year as he’s built on his breakout at club level to become a regular for Gareth Southgate. On his current trajectory, he looks sure to be a starter at this summer’s Euro 2020 (2021)

The Poles will be a weakened side too – their talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out with a muscle injury. Whether Mount will be fit for the early kick off with this weekend is now a question mark.
