Former Blue gives his take on “robotic” Chelsea target

Caughtoffside have had their weekly chat with Alan Hudson, and the former Chelsea player was on top form this week.

He’s always forthright in his opinions, and often quite negative too. This week he’s taken aim at rumoured Blues target Declan Rice with some odd backhanded compliments.

The midfielder did really well in the two England games played thus far in the international break, including netting a first Three Lions goal against San Marino.

Hudson wasn’t ready to praise him though, pointing to the quality of the opposition, and warning fans against getting too excited about the potential of the versatile West Ham player:

“[Declan] Rice is the perfect England robotic midfield player, big and strong, who I would have played against at school.

“The big boy who is so intimidating… but it remains to be seen if he can be a ‘tough guy’ against the bigger nations,” Hudson tutted.

What’s he got Rice, who seems a lovely lad, we don’t know. We’re not even sure if robotic is supposed to be an insult – being calm, decisive and emotionless seems pretty ideal for a player in that position to us.

But what do we know? We’re not Alan Hudson after all…
