Chelsea striker must “take a step back” to save career

Chelsea have a few loans going really well this season, and a few going not so well.

Michy Batshuayi had an average spell at Crystal Palace a few years ago, and he’s now having another average spell in South London.

He’s been at Chelsea for quite some time now, and apart from one brief spark at Dortmund, he’s never looked up to it. Perhaps it’s not surprise then that SportWitness today have translated quotes from Voetbalkrant in his home country of Belgium suggesting that he needs to go backwards to go forwards.

“Romelu Lukaku also dared to leave Chelsea for West Bromwich and later Everton. If he hadn’t, he might not have been where he is now,” said former Belgium striker Erwin Vanderburgh.

“We also saw the same with Kevin De Bruyne.

“Batshuayi has been in the Premier League for several seasons now and it doesn’t work. So it wouldn’t be a problem to take a step back”.

We’re not sure about the Lukaku/Batshuayi comparisons, but there’s no doubting the logic that he’s not going to succeed by sitting on the bench in the Premier League.

Perhaps this was the year to suck it up and move to a smaller league. As it stands, it’s just another wasted season in a wasted career.
