Chelsea loanee stops Ronaldo to make Champions League quarter finals

There was a Tweet floating around the other day asking “what was the last great football match you watched?” and if you were watching Porto-Juventus tonight, you now have your answer.

It was a complete rollercoaster, with goals, red cards and drama at both ends. There was a Chelsea link too.

On loan defender Malang Sarr wasn’t in the starting lineup, but was brought on after an hour when the Portuguese champions went down to ten men. He then played out the rest of the game and extra time, as Porto showed incredible heart to squeeze past Cristiano Ronaldo and his team.

He’s not been starting much in recent months, and it will be interesting to see whether he can get back into his managers plans before the next stage of the competition. Either way, it’s great to see Sarr being able to play at the very highest level and looking comfortable.
