Chelsea incident being used to show where VAR has gone wrong

VAR has been involved in many controversial decisions during it’s rollout in the Premier League.

It does have supporters, but it also has many haters as well, with complaints that it slows the game down, takes away the ability to celebrate a goal in fear of it being ruled out, and of course clear decisions still being wrong even after being looked at.

Chelsea had one of these that they felt aggrieved by against Manchester United, when Harry Maguire head locked Cesar Azpilicueta in the penalty area which was a clear penalty, not given.

According to The Daily Mirror, Premier League chiefs will meet on Thursday, with VAR high on the agenda.

They wrote to clubs requesting feedback who then sent clips for evaluation, the most prominent of which was Harry Maguire’s fould on Cesar Azpilicueta last October that wasn’t given.

Let’s hope they can learn from it as VAR still operates in its teething stages.
