Chelsea goalkeeper explains how they are keeping so many clean sheets

Chelsea have now kept 11 clean sheets since Thomas Tuchel took charge since late January.

The unbeaten run now extends to 14 matches in all competitions since the German took the reigns from Frank Lampard, and Chelsea as a team are now 15 unbeaten.

The one major thing that Tuchel has managed to do right away is tighten up the defence, with the clean sheet record being a major indicator of how that has improved, obviously.

But defending is not just about the goalkeeper or the back line of defenders, according to Blues stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga, and he has been explaining why they have managed to do so well as a defensive unit recently via the Chelsea website.

“We are defending well,” he said.

“Right from the goalkeeper up to the strikers, it is the whole teamwork paying off.”

It’s a great point really, and it is evident in Tuchel’s counter press that he adopts in his teams. Chelsea work so hard and so high up the pitch to win the ball back when they lose it, it is very much about defending from the top.
