Andreas Christensen will be offered a new contact at Chelsea after a string of good performances under new manager Thomas Tuchel, according to a report in today’s Daily Telegraph from their Blues correspondent Matt Law.
Christensen stepped into the breach a month ago when Thiago Silva limped off in the first half against Tottenham, and has gone from strength to strength since. His MOTM performance against Liverpool on Thursday night capped was a new peak for his efforts, and it’s no surprise to see moves being made to tie him down again.
The back three Tuchel is using is perfect for Christensen’s skillset, and as long as we stick with this formation we can see him continuing to thrive. He’s had great runs in the team before but never quite managed to make it stick for a whole season. Perhaps this is when that changes?
The other question is what happens when Silva returns. But for now, let’s just enjoy the incredible efforts of this defence in recent weeks.
