“They actually insult my intelligence” – Former Blue thinks Mason Mount praise has gone too far

Are you ready for your weekly dose of Alan Hudson? It’s a spicy one this time.

Caughtoffside have a regular chat with the former Chelsea and England midfielder, and he hasn’t let the international break slow him down.

This time it’s the media in his sights, after they praised Mason Mount for two good performances for England. The midfielder looked great in wins over Albania and San Marino, and was praised for his showings.

But Hudson wasn’t happy with the fawning, given the level of the opposition in both games.

“He has bundles of ability, but there is a big difference between the Premier League and international football, just as we’ve found out since 1966 with players disappearing in the big matches,” the former Blues moaned.

“Mason Mount might well go on and win the Premier League, be Footballer of the Year and win the Champions League with Chelsea.

“I listen to these pundits after international matches, however, and they actually insult my intelligence. Nobody ever mentions about the opposition Mount is up against as being vastly inferior individually or as a team.”

We know what you mean Alan, but good grief, please just let us enjoy watching out academy product cementing his place in the England team, would you?

The praise is all based on Mount’s excellent Premier League form anyway – without that he wouldn’t have had a hope of getting a start for Gareth Southgate’s team, no matter who they were playing against. So let’s focu on that.

Let’s hope he’s cheered up next week.

  1. In all seriousness, why do we keep hearing these ‘controversial’ views from Alan Hudson? Nobody wants to say bad things about him, but please…

  2. Why Alan Hudson blabbing or is he jealous Mason Mount is making a huge successad delivering. I think he is talking based on sentiment. I never see him condemning Sterling in this way.
