Chelsea have the lead in Madri-sorry, Bucharest!
Olivier Giroud hasn’t had many chances tonight, but he made his best opportunity count just now. The striker got up brilliantly to strike an overhead kick past Jan Oblak after Mario Hermoso’s defensive clearance flew into the air.
VAR spent an age reviewing the goal to make sure it was the defender and not Mount who had hit the ball to the offside Giroud, but in the end it was given, and Thomas Tuchel’s team find themselves with a crucial away goal.
You can see the goal in the clip embedded here:
Oh my, Olivier Giroud! 😍
He just loves scoring worldies, doesn't he!?
VAR initially ruled the goal out but it stands as Mario Hermoso was deemed to have deflected the ball onto the Frenchman 🙌 pic.twitter.com/CAweQ8SzAR
