Thomas Tuchel has given both Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud a chance up front, and both have had good and bad games for their new manager.
Giroud might have just won that battle tonight. His acrobatic finish was the difference between the two teams, but you wouldn’t have known it from his modest interview at full time.
He was taking nothing for granted either “we need to finish this game at home,” he declared. Barring injury, that’s a game we’re sure he’ll now start. Perhaps he can apply the coup de grace himself.
