Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Southampton wasn’t a game that looked like it was going to generate many headlines, but Thomas Tuchel’s decision to sub Callum Hudson-Odoi on and then off again grabbed the attention of the media.
The manager played down the significance of the move when speaking to the media after the game, and when asked about it today he went into further detail on what he’d done, and how CHO had reacted:
“We spoke in front of the whole group… we had the only reaction we wanted – he went back to normal mood, to good mood, to smile, to good training, to very good training today.”
It sounds like he got the reaction he wanted, and if we win tomorrow night with the winger in the team it will all be forgotten. “Business as usual” as the German coach put it.
