Update regarding Chelsea’s Champions League tie being at a neutral venue

Chelsea are due to play Atletico Madrid in the knockout stages of the Champions League on February the 23rd.

However, with the ongoing global pandemic and issues surrounding travel to some countries that have been struck harder, the tie may well be played at a neutral stadium in a neutral country.

According to Sky Italy reporter Angelo Mangiante, it could be played in Warsaw in Poland, this is set to be confirmed either way today.

He told me in private messages that the tie would still be a two-legged affair rather than just a one off knockout match, which is what some reports had been saying.

This could be seen in many ways to be honest, whether it has an advantage to any one team. But it’s not really relevant at the end of the day, we still have to beat Atletico Madrid to get through to the next round!
