Chelsea are in the lull between games today, but that hasn’t stopped Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph dropping some serious transfer gossip on us.
Law is one of the writers who clearly has his sources at the club, and we value what he says, even if it doesn’t all come true. He’s discussing Upamecano, the RB Leipzig defender whose move to Bayern Munich in the summer has just been finalised.
He said that Chelsea’s long rumoured interest was real, but also that there were doubts with some of their scouts about his quality.

He didn’t stop there. He also pointed out that David Alaba – the man who Upamecano is coming in to replace – is too expensive for Chelsea to sign, even on a free.
Clear that Chelsea will prioritise central defender and a striker in the summer. The interest in Haaland dates back to his RB Slazburg days but his wages and Raiola are a problem…not just for Chelsea.

Finally, he asserts that Chelsea’s priority positions this summer are centre-back and striker. No surprises there then. At the moment we’re still so focused on trying to get last summer’s buys playing well that thinking about next summer’s moves seems crazy.
