Thomas Tuchel rules out one key player for Manchester United clash

Thiago Silva limped off in the first half of the win against Spurs at the start of February, and at the time it didn’t look too serious.

We felt the Brazilian would probably miss a game or two, but it’s now 5 games and counting. Thomas Tuchel has just been speaking ahead of the match against Manchester United on Sunday, and he’s ruled out the defender definitively. While the 36 year old is back in training, he’s clearly not quite ready for action just yet.

We’ve been pretty solid without Silva, but we’re also desperate to have him back, especially for a game like this. After United we face Liverpool, Everton and Leeds before the return leg against Atletico Madrid.

Each of those matches will be a huge task with or without Silva in the team, and the sooner he’s back the more confident we’ll feel about keeping this impressive run going.
