Thomas Tuchel has just had his prematch press conference ahead of the FA Cup match against Barnsley tomorrow, and of course injury updates were top of the agenda.
There are a few players with fitness issues, but the major concern is Thiago Silva, who limped off injured against Tottenham last week. Tuchel sounded positive about the Brazilian’s prospects overall – but he definitively ruled him out of tomorrow’s game.
TalkChelsea had the quotes from the presser where Tuchel explained the situation. As you might expect, the former PSG player is working as hard as he can to be back as soon as he can.
Thomas Tuchel on Thiago Silva:
“He's out. He feels no better. He's had a lot of treatment and I know Thiago from the last years, we can be absolutely sure he is spending every minute available to speed up the process of healing.”

We would have been very surprised to see him start this game even if he was fit – we’re looking to limit his game time, not use him at every possible opportunity – so this doesn’t chance much. The important thing is that it sounds like he may be available for the game on Monday night against Newcastle in the Premier League.
