Thomas Tuchel admits he’s got a special advantage for playing against Man U

Thomas Tuchel is taking on Manchester United for the first time as Chelsea boss on Sunday – but it will actually be his third time taking on the Red Devils this season.

Before he was sacked as PSG manager, the German played United twice in the Champions League group stage. After losing in Paris in October, Tuchel made the necessary adjustments to beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in Manchester a few weeks later.

They had also faced each other in the round of 16 the year before, with PSG eliminated by a late comeback.

This will be a totally different game of course, but Tuchel admitted in his press conference today that there would be some advantage to him in preparing for this game:

Over the course of those games, PSG were caught out a lot by United on the counter. We expect to see a much more conservative Chelsea team strategy on Sunday.
