Thomas Tuchel is speaking to the media after Chelsea’s win over Tottenham, and the reporters of course wanted immediate updates on the status of Thiago Silva.
The defender went down late in the first half and lay on the turf until he was escorted off. It came after he stretched to make an interception, and it looked very much like he’d twanged a hamstring or a quad.

Simon Johnson of the Athletic reported the manager’s answer from the presser. Tuchel wasn’t bringing much info – as managers tend to do he said he’d know more after some scans – but it seems certain that the former PSG man will be out for the Sheffield United game this weekend for sure – and perhaps a little longer than that.
Every side is suffering with injuries right now, and it’s just a reality we’ll have to deal with like everyone else. Whether it initiates a change of system from Tuchel is what will be really interesting.
